It was a great pleasure working on this private commission with Jack, as pictured here holding up the Clementine painting!
His 1-year-old daughter’s name is Clementine or Clemmie cutie!
I proposed to portray a clementine on a sunny morning with a fresh feel in the air. I was so glad that Jack liked the idea and went for it!
It went smoothly, from selecting a well-proportioned round clementine to its position in the picture, adding the leaf, deciding whether to have a background or letting it afloat, and mixing the colour palette. The magical moment lies in the blue background that seems to swirl around the leaf.
