Sea Level Rise 02

from £450.00

About Sea Level Rise (SLR) series:

During the lockdown in 2022, watching a NASA simulation, I was overwhelmed by the catastrophic impact of global sea level rise.

According to the research, our coastal lines increased by 3.4mm/year in 2021, which is 42 trillion cubic feet of water; the rate has nearly doubled since the start of the century.

I posted a video of me drawing line by line of 3.4mm spacing on Instagram, symbolising the rising tides.

Intuitively, I painted SLR 02, which depicts sea sponge texture as a metaphor for learning from nature to restore our coastal lines - a reparative act.
